Life is full of challanges and new beginnings!
I am now fitter than I was two years ago and have never been so busy?
I remain an accredited Trainer and SAQA accredited Assessor contracted to a SAQA accredited Provider, in order for Diveleader
to be accredited as an Underwater Marine and Shark Diving Guides,
in order to comply with the 2nd Tourism Amendment act.
The training and assessing takes a week, however on registering
and getting your student number there is an assignment that requires
a lot of work and research, will be sent plus student note book, digitally. The assignment should be completed before the final training and assessment.
My time otherwise is in the interests of marine Ecotourism as an NGO
for Coastwatch, SATSA and PUGASA, which I represent at two licence approval forums, monitoring Industrial effluent out falls to the Ocean, the Provincial Coastal Committee on all Coastal and Marine interrelated issues, the Ethekwini Guides Association and the Provincial Guides Association as a Committee member.
I attend any workshop likewise related, such as waste management, Global warming, pollution, estuaries threatened, water resource alternatives and any tourism issues. December there was a 3-day symposium at the KZN Wildlife HQ in Pietermaritzburg on Biodiversity.
A very well organised symposium with many thought provoking issues.
We can organise diving for past clients and Wildlife Safaris for 2 to 3 people. I will be the accredited Nature Guide.
Groups visiting SA through SharkCollege can do a shark diving educational. I am available to give talks at schools, clubs and associations on sharks.
Last year in May I was invited to Canada and on Vancouver Island
gave a talk on Sharks to a North American Association called Gyre.
I have given a talk on sharks in England at Exeter to raise funds for
the Shark Trust and in Port Elizabeth to raise funds for Shark
Research and in KZN mainly Model C schools, Indian schools, clubs
and Associations.
Shark conservation takes a lot of my time and linking with many others, the voice is getting bigger.
Cheers for now!
